It's the end of week 2 of my £50 personal budget! As far as cash goes, I'm doing well. I'm sitting comfortably at just over £27 pounds, with two weeks left to go. That's the good news.
The bad news is that I've bought one personal item that was considerably out of the range of my budget. It's a book, an awesome book about the art of Borderlands. But if I had bought it with what was left of my cash, I would have had almost nothing left for the next two weeks. So that item has instead gone out of the money I held back for this month, and will be my only personal purchase outside the £50 budget.
I'm somewhat disappointed that I haven't managed to completely, totally stick to the £50 for everything. However, I also suspected that at some point this month, I would get frustrated at having very little cash to spend. I know myself well enough to realise that my response to that would be to go out and buy something I didn't need or really want that much, and was only buying to make myself feel better.
Having bought this book, I feel like not only have I managed to prevent myself from buying something I don't actually want, but I have also felt like I don't really need to spend more than what I already have for the next few weeks. I'm fairly confident I can get through the next two weeks without going over what's left of my cash budget. Fingers crossed!
