It's like a Tootsie Pop

I love Skyrim. It's a massive, massive game, far bigger than any game I've played through. I both love and hate that every time I turn around, there is a new quest I can pick up. Every town I go to, a handful of people decide to tell their problems to me - a complete stranger, in their world - and expect me to solve them. Even just walking around in the wilderness seems to spark off something new to do. For example, yesterday I attempted to take down a mammoth I happened to spot while wandering around looking for something totally different. I managed to kill the mammoth, barely - only to then get killed in a single hit by the giant that apparently thought of the mammoth as his pet. I now have a new determination to go back and find that mammoth and giant again and have revenge. No quest involved, and the chances of finding that same mammoth and giant pair are slim to none. But I'm going to do it anyway.

I was rambling toward a point, wasn't I? Oh yeah. Skyrim. Big. It's going to take me gazillions of hours to finish this game, but I'm not really sure when I'm going to consider it "done". Is it when I finish the main storyline? When I finish all the sidequests and extra stuff to do? Both? Or is it when I've killed everything there is to kill and there is nothing left for me to find on the map? Pick one, they all are going to take forever or so. And I'm not complaining about that, but rather very curious about when it will be "the end".

And then my brain, fuelled by cold medication, a small amount of caffeine, and a large amount of sugar, took over. And my brain said, You know, Skyrim is like a Tootsie Pop. For folks who may have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, a Tootsie Pop is an American lollipop with a Tootsie Roll (chewy chocolate) in the middle. And the reason for my addled brain making such a comparison, I'm certain, is this:

That last line is pretty much it. "The world may never know." I think that can easily be applied to Skyrim. I don't think any one person has actually done everything in the game there is to do. And even better, there are plans to add additional, downloadable content to this game! I will be playing Skyrim for the rest of the year. Huzzah! Who needs life outside of Skyrim, right?

. . . Right?
